Alongside that career I have been involved in the mental health sector on a voluntary basis since 2015, including as a trustee of York Mind and The Retreat and as a Mental Health Act Manager for Leeds & York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.
In 2024 I began training formally as a psychotherapist, building on an earlier MA in Interdisciplinary Psychology, and I'm currently completing my supervised practise through the Human Givens Diploma, with full qualification expected November 2026.
My approach: I work within the Human Givens approach: practical, solution-focused therapy that looks at what's not being met in your life right now, rather than dwelling only on the past.
Sessions are collaborative: we build a clear picture of what's going on, then work on concrete ways to move you forward, often within a small number of sessions.
I work with people with a wide range of everyday difficulties: anxiety, low mood, stress, low confidence, burnout and the strain that comes with significant life changes. I offer a calm, practical and non-judgemental space to think things through. My practice is supported by regular clinical supervision and sessions are currently offered at a reduced cost whilst I finalise my qualification.
Qualifications: MA Interdisciplinary Psychology, Leeds Beckett University (2019, distinction); Human Givens Psychotherapy Diploma Part 2 (distinction), Human Givens Institute (planned completion of qualification Nov 2026)
Other specialist training and interests include: I have additional training in OCD and neurodiversity, and a particular interest in health anxiety. I offer an affirming space for people exploring questions of identity.
Memberships: Graduate Member, Human Givens Institute
