Building a workplace for positive wellbeing where people can thrive
Mental and emotional wellbeing is so much more than a buzz phrase
At the York Centre, we work closely with organisations to understand their values, culture and industry pressures. This allows us to integrate robust mental‑wellbeing practices into the real working world of your staff.
Our vision is simple: workplaces can support mental health and boost productivity — these goals are not mutually exclusive. With subtle, sustained evolution, organisations achieve healthier teams, stronger performance and measurable improvements to their bottom line.
Long-term and sustainable
We advocate for a sustained, long‑term approach to mental wellbeing. Using the Human Givens model of balancing emotional needs, we help organisations adopt a top‑down strategy that integrates solid management practice with psychological foundations.
This approach creates:
- motivated staff
- higher emotional intelligence
- reduced sickness and burnout
- healthier workplace culture
Whether through monthly “lunch and learn” sessions, quarterly focus topics or upgrading working practices, we help organisations build momentum towards a culture where wellbeing becomes normalised. Over time, responsibility is shared between employer and employee, requiring far less intervention.

Advanced Employee Assistance Programme
We offer far more than a generic telephone‑based service. When we partner with an organisation, staff get to know us — and trust us. This continuity strengthens the therapeutic alliance and creates a cost‑effective, meaningful support route.
Sessions are offered face‑to‑face or online, depending on client preference and logistics. We frequently see individuals who were previously resistant to therapy become open to 1‑1 support after engaging with our team‑based interventions.
Leadership coaching
High quality leadership demands deep self-awareness, a safety and security within leaders and psychological agility that they are able to negotiate unpredictable and stressful environments.
At The York Centre, we can offer leadership coaching which combines vast experience in coaching at director / C level of organisations with the knowledge of evidence-based psychological approaches related to mental health and emotional wellbeing.
ADHD and Autism Coaching
The York Centre has a team of therapists and coaches who are experienced in supporting people in the workplace who are neurodivergent, including an ADHD and autism brain design.
As well as working with people individually, we can also provide helpful information sessions for teams about neurodiversity and the key principles of a valued, neuro-affirming workplace.
Information Delivery
From Social Work burnout to behavioural‑safety briefings in Oil and Gas, we can work as part of your team to deliver information in the most relevant and accessible way.
We offer in‑person, hybrid “patch‑in” or fully online sessions for team briefings, away days and organisational training. Sessions range from 1 hour to 2 days, with flexibility for 24‑hour shift patterns.
Our training is interactive, thought‑provoking and grounded in evidence‑based practice — and above all, effective.#Insert example of feedback here#
Transformation and change
We provide structured support at a team and organisation-wide level in response to significant events or planned organisational change.
This includes, for example:
- Sudden bereavement or terminal illness of a colleague
- Major restructuring or full‑site redundancy
- Critical incidents affecting team cohesion or wellbeing
Our role is to stabilise, support and strengthen teams during periods of uncertainty, helping staff to feel safe, heard and able to move forward.
Reflective practice groups and team coaching
As clinicians, reflective practice is a legal and ethical requirement — and we know first‑hand how transformative it is. Having a space to think freely, be challenged, explore wider perspectives and strengthen decision‑making enhances service quality and job satisfaction.
We adapt this therapeutic model for organisational settings, aligning it with leadership goals and professional standards (including teaching, social work and multi‑agency practice).
Some clients choose monthly 1‑1 or group sessions; others prefer quarterly reflective practice blocks. Both formats support confident leadership, improved resilience and psychologically informed management.
