Men & women’s wellbeing

Why gender-based focus is useful?

Wellbeing is personal — and people come to us because they want support that recognises their individual experience. Men and women share core emotional needs, but physiology, hormones, social expectations and life stages can shape how stress, pressure and change are felt. We provide a calm, neutral space where clients can explore their mental and emotional health without judgement. Our focus is on restoring balance, building resilience and helping each person understand what wellbeing means for them.

Evidence-based, gender focused strategies

We use the evidence‑based Human Givens model to help men and women in York identify what’s out of balance and what strengths they already have. Our approach is practical, respectful and tailored — offering clear strategies for emotional regulation, boundaries, communication, resilience and life transitions. Whether you’re navigating burnout, relationship challenges, menopause, fatherhood, career pressure or identity shifts, we help you reconnect with your innate capacity for calm, clarity and wellbeing.

What can happen if you don’t pay attention to your needs?

When emotional needs aren’t met, life becomes harder. Stress rises, sleep suffers, relationships strain and confidence dips. For some, this shows up as withdrawal or irritability; for others, as overwhelm, anxiety or exhaustion. These patterns can affect work, home life and the ability to navigate life's transitions. Recognising the impact is the first step toward meaningful change.

For both men and women, our therapeutic process includes:

Listening without assumptions — creating a safe, grounded space where clients can speak freely.

Understanding the unique context — physiology, roles, pressures, identity and life stage.

Clarifying emotional needs — identifying which needs are unmet and how this is affecting wellbeing.

Building practical strategies — tailored tools for emotional regulation, communication, boundaries, resilience and self‑care.

Supporting transitions — from parenthood to menopause, career changes to retirement, relationship shifts to identity development.

Strengthening resources — helping clients reconnect with their innate capacity for problem‑solving, calmness and perspective.

Our aim is not to pathologise men or women, but to recognise their differences, honour their experiences and help them regain balance. With the right support, wellbeing becomes achievable, sustainable and deeply personal.
