Registered professionals with wide ranging expertise in mental health and emotional wellbeing

All psychotherapists and counsellors are trained and experienced in working with core issues affecting people's emotional wellbeing. Our professionals are available in-person and online. Our goal is that you can achieve the outcomes to have a life which is more settled and in balance.

Quality therapy in-person and online

We work with your preference along with the practical reality of your life. Many people prefer meeting in person at The York Centre on Bishopthorpe Road, a nearby centre with accessibility support or other partner centres in northern England. At the same time, others mix in-person sessions with meeting online, and some prefer or need to meet online rather come into one of our centres.

Psychotherapists and counsellors professionally registered

All registered psychotherapists in the UK must be a professional member of a psychotherapy body which is registered with the Professional Standards Authority.

Most practitioners are registered with The Human Givens Institute, the Institute is one (with the BACP) of six organisations making up the Partnership of Counselling and Psychotherapy Bodies. Its purpose is to set quality standards, promote consistent practice and build a greater awareness of the sector.

The Human Givens specialist approach to psychotherapy and counselling

The Human Givens is the most recently innovated approach to psychotherapy and counselling in the UK.

HG therapists receive training in a wide range of therapeutic psychological approaches and knowledge in neuroscience and biology, rather than one specific modality. The training also includes:

  • guided imagery, a form of hypnotherapy, which can be integrated into sessions to help lift issues such as trauma
  • breathwork, the use of evidence-based ways to help overcome panic or overwhelm, and become more deeply relaxed
  • psychoeducation, practical knowledge and learning about how the brain, body and nervous system actually works.
